Go big or go home, as the saying goes.
Smith & Wollensky didn’t want to go home, so it’s going big.
The Boston-based restaurant brand closed its Easton Town Center restaurant at the end of a 20-year lease in early 2023, but said it hoped to return with a new restaurant.
“We knew all along we were coming back,” said Kim Lapine, chief marketing officer for PPX Hospitality Brands, the owners of Smith & Wollensky. “We kept our promise to our employees and to our customers.”
The company announced Tuesday that it will take over the space along High Street on the ground floor of the Hyatt Regency Columbus, with plans to open next year.
Lapine said even prior to closing the Easton restaurant, Smith & Wollensky explored some downtown and Arena District real estate for a possible second location.
They zeroed in on the Hyatt Regency opportunity about a year ago. Nationwide Realty Investors is a partner in the project as well.
